How to Register for the TOEFL iBT Test

The easiest way to register is through your ETS account. You can also register by phone or by mail. Use the TOEFL iBT Registration Form (PDF) and see “How to Register” in the TOEFL iBT^® Information Bulletin (PDF).

The Name You Use When Creating an ETS Account

The name and date of birth you use when you create your account must exactly match the name and date of birth on the ID document you bring to the test center. If this information doesn't match, you won't be able to take the test, and your test fee won't be refunded. See ID Requirements.

Planning ahead when scheduling your test date

It's important to consider your overall timeline when choosing a test date. You need to make sure scores will be sent prior to application deadlines, and you may want to leave time for retesting, if needed. Be sure to:

pick a test date at least 2 to 3 months before your earliest admissions deadline to ensure your scores will be reported in time
register for the test 4 months before your desired test date
